(15 December 2007) Every single BHSN jazz ensemble and combo presented strong performances at the 30th Annual Bloomington Jazz Festival, held Dec. 14-15, 2007, at Bloomington South.
The following students were presented with Outstanding Soloist Citations:
Jazz 4: Ian Cowan (trumpet), Cherryl Ellison (tenor sax), Eric Ottinger (vibes), Brian O'Connor (piano),
Alex Graham (trumpet), Zach Herndon (trumpet), Eric Ottinger (drums)
Jazz 3: Molly Arnholter (alto sax), Kevin Ocampo (piano), Jonathan Bruns (bass), Tom Sowinski (drums)
Jazz 2: Evan Smail (bari sax), Eric Arnold (alto sax), Charlie Frederick (trumpet), Alec Davidson (trumpet),
Ben Newman (tenor sax), Weronika Balewski (flute/piccolo), Kristina Weber (vibes)
Jazz 1: Hannah Clendening (trumpet), Brandon Anderson (vibraphone), Tommy Whiteman (drums), Lewis Rogers (guitar), Ian Ottinger (bass), Ben Lumsdaine (drums)
Outstanding Musicianship Trophies were presented to: Weronika Balewski, Ben Newman, Hannah Clendening,
Lewis Rogers, and Ben Lumsdaine.
The adjudicators then presented the Outstanding Musician of the Festival IAJE Scholarship to Bloomington North's own Ben Lumsdaine, with Lewis Rogers as a close Runner-Up.
Congratulations to EVERY single student who performed, and especially to those who went the extra mile by performing in one of Bloomington North's FIVE extraordinary jazz combos!
