North Students participate in IU Summer Music Clinic
(20 June 2008) Fourteen students from the Bloomington High School North Bands recently participated in the
Indiana University Summer Music Clinic. Auditioning into the prestigious Cream Band were:
Sarah Isaacson (flute), Adam Nichols (bassoon), Zuzanna Balewski (clarinet), Nathan Pratt (horn), and Brandon Anderson (percussion).
Making Crimson Band were: Samantha Paul and Cherryl Ellison (oboe), Emma Smedberg (bass clarinet), Patrick McGerr (trumpet), Sierra Kinney and Thomas Whitlock (trombone), and Sam Buehler (euphonium).
Selected for the Orchestra were Balewski, Nichols, Pratt, Anderson plus Vincent Newsom (viola) and Adam Ebbinghouse (bass).
The clinic also featured two jazz ensembles. Making Jazz Band 1 were Ebbinghouse, Anderson, and Kinney, and in Jazz Band 2 were Smedberg, McGerr, and Whitlock.
Three Indiana University School of Music professors served as conductors: Stephen Pratt (Cream Band), Paul Popiel (Crimson Band), and Lissa May (Jazz Ensemble 1).
