Advanced Jazz Ensemble performing in Moscow, Idaho

Thursday, February 21st

6:30am EST “T” Team meets at Bloomington North and load into cars of parent volunteers
Thursday Team: Arnold, Bransby, Clendening, Elmer, Hinnefeld, Hutt, Lier, Lumsdaine, Ottinger, Reynolds, Rogers, Shedd, Turner, VanHorn, Ms. Arnold, Ms. Stockhouse
7:45am EST Arrive at Indpls Airport & check-in
9:18am EST Flight 501 (NWA) scheduled departure
10:09am CST Arrive in Minneapolis (turn watch back one hour)
11:16am CST Flight 1031 (NWA) scheduled departure. Snack Box available during flight for $5
12:19pm PST Arrive in Spokane, WA (turn watch back two more hours). Check into hotel, then transport to Moscow for clinics and Thursday night concert: Regina Carter (violin), Roberta Gambarini (vocals), Jeff Hamilton (drums), Russell Malone (guitar), Robert Hurst (bass), Bill Charlap (piano) + Roy Hargrove’s RH Factor

Late arrival back at the hotel.

Friday, February 22nd

5:30am EST [note time change!] “F” Team meets at Bloomington North and load into cars of parent volunteers

9:18am EST Flight 501 (NWA) scheduled departure
10:09am CST Arrive in Minneapolis (turn watch back one hour)
11:16am CST Flight 1031 (NWA) scheduled departure. Snack Box available during flight for $5
12:19pm PST Arrive in Spokane, WA (turn watch back two more hours). Upon arrival, Nathan Pratt and the Rhythm Section will head immediately to Moscow. All others will proceed to Coeur d’Alene Resort

6:00pm PST All vans will travel to Moscow for the Masters & Mentors Concert in the Kibbiedome:
Atsuko Hashimoto (Hammond B3 organ), Dee Daniels & Sara Gazarek (vocals), Curtis Fuller & Ryan Porter (trombone), Hank Jones & Taylor Eigsti (piano), Bobby Hutcherson & Warren Wolf (vibes), Jon Hendricks & Sachal Vasandani (vocals). Late arrival back at the hotel.

Go to bed...SERIOUSLY. Tomorrow will be a very demanding day.

Saturday, February 23rd

6:30am PST Wake-Up Calls; Breakfast items provided in the vans
7:30am PST Vans leave Hotel for Moscow; Be dressed in performance clothes
9:30am PST Combo I Performance in LDS Institute (all listen)
10:20am PST Combo II Performance in LDS (all listen)
10:40am PST Combo III Performance in LDS (all listen)
11:00am PST As a group, walk over to the School of Music
11:10am PST Enter warm-up area
11:20am PST Throw dice and decide on program; Warm-Up
11:35am PST Be waiting backstage
11:40am PST Big Band performance in Recital Hall
  Walk as a group over to fast food eating place; also find vans so we can put instruments inside as well as change clothes and be casual for the rest of the day.

5:00pm PST Everyone meet in the Kibbiedome; watch television monitors or listen for announcements of which big bands, soloists, combos are named as winners. If invited to perform at the 5:15 Winners Concert, we will need to make a quick change back into dress clothes.
  Hamp’s Big Band Birthday Bash & Dance Party
Two great Big Bands—the Lionel Hampton Big Band and the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra—meet for an old-fashioned “Battle of the Bands.” A dance floor will be down and the roof will be blown off the Kibbie Dome. Featured vocalists include Dee Daniels and Kevin Mahogany.

Everyone can sleep on the way back to Coeur d’Alene….Late Arrival


Sunday, February 24th

11:00am PST Vans leave for Schweitzer and a day of Mountain skiing

Monday, February 25th

  Arrange for your own morning wake-up call
11:00am PST Vans leave hotel for airport
11:45am PST Check-in
1:10pm PST Flight 610 (NWA) scheduled departure from Spokane. Snack box provided for $5 during flight.
6:01pm CST Arrive in Minneapolis
6:52pm CST Flight 496 (NWA) scheduled departure from Minneapolis
9:34pm EST Arrive in Indianapolis; Again, check for damage. Load up in volunteer parent cars/vans. Head for home.

Students are expected to be in school on Tuesday.

Plan on $25 per day for meals. There will also be souvenir t-shirts and sweatshirts available commemorating the Festival as Hamp would have turned 100 years old. Souvenirs will be on display in the Kibbiedome. The sooner you buy, the better choice of sizes, etc. you will have.
