Cougar Band Spirit Items
Show your Cougar Band pride and support the band programs at North by wearing Cougar Band apparel! We have our traditional band hoodies, lined jackets, tees and polos, plus hats and visors. Band Bucks: Gift Cards
Band Bucks is a program that directly benefits your pocket book. You, your family, and your friends purchase gift cards and the retailer donates a certain percentage (2-15%) to your student’s band account, which you can use to pay required band-related expenses. There is a wide range and a huge number of businesses that participate. A few examples from Aug. 2011 (%'s may have changed since then): Old Navy (9%), Amazon (4%), iTunes (5%), KMart (6%), Kohls (4%), American Airlines (8%), Starbucks (7%), TGI Fridays (9%), O’Charley’s (15%), many other local chain restaurants (8-10%). Cards for Kroger (3% rebate), Marsh/O'Malia's (5%), and Bloomingfoods (5%) are available for order/purchase from the Band Bucks volunteers, but not at www.ShopWithScrip.com. The Marsh and Bloomingfoods cards are one-time gift cards, whereas the Kroger cards are purchased for $5 and then (re)loaded at the Customer Service desk with whatever amount you wish. Note that the Kroger cards can be used at any Kroger-family location, which includes stores by various names all over the country.
Some great ideas for using gift cards:
- Use them instead of cash for purchases you would have made anyway!
- Give them as gifts (they look just like the regular gift cards that you would buy in a store)
- Have relatives and friends buy them for themselves or to give as gifts
- Use them for large one-time purchases such as a new refrigerator or a vacation
- Use them for budgeting on a monthly basis
How it works:
- Place an order. All types of orders, except ScriptNow!, will be held until formally submitted/OKed by the coordinators.
- Online orders can be placed with the Great Lakes Scrip Center at www.ShopWithScrip.com. Register using the BHSN Band Boosters' enrollment code: FCE92EA93L193. Note that your order will be held until the next order-submission deadline (see the band site calendar), after which your cards will be sent to the Band Bucks coordinator for distribution.
- Email card requests to the Band Bucks coordinator.
- Paper order forms that list the cards of greatest interest to Bloomington residents will be available to print here, in the Band Room, at Band Booster meetings, at concerts, or attached to periodic emails. These order forms may be handed in at various band events, dropped off at the band room, or mailed to the Band Bucks Coordinator - see below for the address.
- Grocery cards (Kroger, Marsh/O'Malia, and Bloomingfoods) must be bought via the paper form, email, or directly from a volunteer. They are not available online.
- Pay by check or online.
- If you order your cards at www.ShopWithScrip.com and sign up to use "PrestoPay," you can choose to pay online. When you choose PrestoPay, your bank account will be debited for the amount of your order plus a small convenience fee of $0.39 on the day you place your order. (You will still have to wait to receive your cards until online orders are released, mailed, and distributed. However, there are some businesses that provide immediate eCards.)
- With "Scrip Now!" and PrestoPay, you can order and pay online, then download a printable certificate or reload a card instantly (specific retailers only).
- Whether you order online or use a paper form, you can pay by check (payable to BHSN Band Boosters). Checks are held until ALL cards are distributed. Checks (and paper order forms) may be handed in at various band events, dropped off in the band room, or mailed in - see the Order/Payment Submission Locations below. Be sure to write a band student's name on the memo line, so we'll know whose band account to credit!\
- If you are interested in submitting a large order (i.e., airline, cruise, or hotel gift cards) and would like to use your credit card, please ask the Band Bucks coordinator for instructions. Note that there will be a 3% convenience fee (due to charges by the payment processor).
- The Band Bucks Coordinator will submit all the paper orders and release all the online orders at least once a month (twice a month for November and December gift-giving season!). See the calendar on this website for deadlines.
- Pick up your cards. Approximately one week after a bulk order is submitted, all the gift cards will be mailed to the Band Bucks Coordinator. The coordinator will notify you when your gift cards are ready to be picked up at one of the pick-up locations. Instructions will be provided. This would be a good time to check that they have the name of the student whose band account should be credited!
For now, at least, since cards are all sent to Bloomington and we need a local person to contact for pick-up, out-of-town friends and relatives should ask you to order cards for them, and you can send them on once they arrive.
