Band Booster Notes

October 26, 2005


The Band Booster’s Meeting was rescheduled for Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at 6:30 p.m.


Marching Band Season Recap

  1. Tom Wilson will attend the ISSMA meetings

  2. This was a great season – students showed a lot of spirit and unity.

  3. It was a season filled with a lot of emotion.

  4. We are on the verge of great things.

  5. The Color Guard program is really progressing.

  6. Parent support was amazing, with more and more parents attending the performances.

  7. Video of the “District Performance” and two versions of Regionals will be available at a later date. Tom Wilson will send out more information.

  8. Christy Wilson will produce video – please send any digital pictures/CD to Christy or Tom Wilson.

  9. After “District” next year, there will be a place reserved for a Marching Band Party

  10. Parents stated that The Marching Band Program is a great character building program.


Important Upcoming Dates

November 3rd: Rehearsal at BHSN – Check e-mail for time schedule

November 6th: I.U. Showcase: Marching Band is the Opening Act (arrival time is 1:00 p.m.)

November 22nd: Marching Band Banquet (7-8pm), Dessert – Awards – Video

November 23rd: Performance at Tri-North Middle School at 9:30 a.m. This is an educational performance for the middle school students.


Uniform Information

Material: Dacron/wool

Total cost of uniforms will be approximately $54,775.00.

Fundraiser: need to raise half with fundraising activities.

Fundraiser: Music Quilt – Kathy Loser made a beautiful quilt to be displayed at the November Concert: raffle tickets will be available for purchase. The quilt will be raffled and given away at the Winter Concert. Raffle ticket price is being discussed.

The uniform committee will generate ideas, take comments and review fundraisers.

A large thermometer will be displayed showing the on-going earnings from the fundraisers.

Tom Wilson and Jan Bond will discuss financial support with Mr. Henderson (principal).

Financial support will also be discussed with the MCCSC School Board. The School Board can give up to 50% of cost.

Uniforms last about ten years.

The order needs to be made by February 1st in order to receive the 4% discount.


Rib Shack

Fundraiser is going well.

If students work, they can earn credits towards their letter.

November 5th and the 19th are the last two scheduled times. If you can help, contact Julia Copeland.

Currently, $1,200.00 has been raised from this event.


Macri’s

$200.00 the last time; $350.00 was raised this time.

It may be feasible to have live music next time; combos are now starting up.


Athletic Concession Update

$2,500.00 from the football games

The Block House was given up; this was a one year agreement. There will be negotiations next year.

Basketball games – concessions will be run by the band parents.

$5,100.00 gross receipt on football concessions






Children’s Winter Festival

This public event has been put on hold; instead a “Resource Guide” (information on musical instructions and musical events) will be generated.

Send Ray Burke any information on musical opportunities in our community.

The “Resource Guide” could be given to elementary music teachers to give to elementary students.

The Children’s Winter Festival will be looked into for next year.

Concert on November 9th

7:00 p.m.

Set up will begin at 6:15 p.m.

If you can help with set up, tickets or raffle tickets, please contact; Ewa Balewski.

Marjorie DeBruyne will be in charge of publicity; WFIU, Meadow Wood, etc.
