North Students Take Home B-ton Jazz Fest Honors

(14 December 2009) Congratulations to the following students for earning Outstanding Soloist Awards at the recent Bloomington Jazz Festival:

Beginning Jazz: Brynne Taylor (alto sax) & Ben Briggs (vibes)

Intermediate Jazz: Sam Spevak (guitar), Jimmy Ryan (tenor sax), David Burke (trumpet), Emily Meyer (trumpet),
Miro Sobrer (bass), Jason Ioannides (trombone), June Lee (piano), Matthew Munroe (alto sax), and Lydia Elmer (trombone and vocals). The judges gave the entire band a Musicianship Trophy :)

Studio Jazz: Alex Graham (trumpet) & Connor Creek (trombone)

Advanced Jazz: Thomas Whitlock (trombone), Naama Levy (piano), Harry Gaebler (guitar), Evan Smail (saxophones), Nathaniel Elmer (trombone). Evan and Nathaniel also were presented with musicianship trophies.

Combos: Sam Spevak, Kevin Kostelecky (piano), Mailyn Fidler (violin), Hannah Fidler (bass), Naama Levy, Jeff Browne (drums), Gershwin Marks (drums), Nathaniel Elmer, Evan Smail, and Harry Gaebler.
