Fundraising Activities
The BHSN Band Program could not continue without the thousands of dollars raised by the Band Boosters every year! Below are listed some of the major fundraising activities that occur annually.

Grocery Cards

Purchase a gift card for Marsh/O'Malia's or Kroger, buy the groceries you would normally buy, and raise money for the band at the same time. 3% (Kroger) or 5% (Marsh/O'Malia's) of your total purchase is put into your child's band account and that money can then be used to pay band fees, trip costs, uniform expenses, etc. (see the Info-All Bands page for details). The money belongs to BHSN Band Boosters, but it is set aside for your child’s band expenses. What an easy way to pay for your child’s expenses! You can also get cards for your family and friends to earn money for your student or for the band as an organization. This one is such an easy way to raise funds!

To get a card, contact one of the Grocery Coordinators. Once you're signed up, Kroger patrons can keep adding to the gift card at the store. Marsh patrons will need to buy more cards from a grocery coordinator whenever they run out.

Jazz Under the Stars

In late August each year, the North Bands host an unforgettable evening of music to support the band program. The evening, held at Deer Park Manor, includes a gourmet meal or delicious hors d’oeuvres, performances by some of North's finest jazz combos, classical chamber groups, and special guest jazz musicians. 2010 JUTS info

Mardi Gras

A Bloomington tradition since 2008, this family-oriented fundraising event is held on Fat Tuesday in February and includes a Cajun dinner, activities for the kids, a bake sale, and a silent auction, in addition to outstanding performances given by our talented North jazz musicians. It's a delightful evening for band families and neighbors and friends.

Concessions

Volunteers raise money for the band program by making and serving snow cones, lemonade, and sandwiches at home football games. Shifts are generally scheduled for the first half and second half of the game. We also host concessions for the annual ISSMA Solo and Ensemble Competition, which is held at North, and for the Jazz Festival, which is held at North every other year, both serving a more elaborate menu.

Yearbook Ad Sales

The annual band yearbook, which sells for around $10, is a great souvenir and fundraiser. Students can earn money for their band accounts by selling ads to local businesses, and families can purchase "Happy Ads" honoring their band students. Part of the ad money also goes to the general fund.
